Rev. Fr. Henry Barekye, the assistant parish priest for Christ the King in Nyakibale deanery, Kabale diocese, has urged Christians to use the Easter season as a time to strengthen their faith.

Speaking during the third Sunday Mass of the Easter season at Christ the King parish in Rukungiri municipality, Fr. Barekye emphasized that the resurrection of Christ is the cornerstone of our salvation.

He underscored that Jesus died to redeem the world from sin and encouraged each congregant to fulfill their responsibilities for the betterment of others. Fr. Barekye used examples such as parents sacrificing for their children’s well-being and teachers investing in their students’ futures.

He urged believers to prioritize prayers for the sick, the marginalized, and the suffering, stressing that true Christians must embody the teachings of Jesus in their daily lives.

During the same Mass, Manchester United fans from various parts of Rukungiri joined the congregation to support the purchase of seats for the new parish church. Henry Tugumisiriize, the vice chairperson of the Manchester United fans, announced that during Lent, they decided to support two churches in Rukungiri Municipality: Christ the King Parish and All Saints Church of Uganda.

During their visit to Christ the King Parish, the Manchester United fans donated 1 million towards the purchase of seats for the new church.

Tugumisiriize explained that their commitment stems from a desire to not only support their club but also contribute to community development initiatives. He urged fans of other clubs to prioritize social responsibility over unrest, emphasizing that such actions lead to progress and the availability of resources beneficial to all.
