As part of Uganda’s Independence Day celebrations, Rukungiri Manchester United Fans Association extended a helping hand to a needy man in Kyabahanga Cell, Kyabahanga Parish, Bwambara Sub-county. The group built a temporary house and donated clothing to a single man identified as Friday, who lost his parents and had been living alone in a dilapidated structure that was on the verge of collapse.
Speaking shortly after the construction, Mr. Karyeija Zeefa, the Chairperson of the Rukungiri Manchester United Fans Association, expressed their desire and sympathy to support the needy by giving whatever they can—whether big or small. He emphasized that their act of kindness was not because they are wealthy, but as a way of giving back to God in appreciation for His blessings. Mr. Zeefa pledged that the association is committed to continuing such charitable acts to support more vulnerable people in the community.
He further thanked the community members for their cooperation and appreciated Mr. Manige Wencenclas and his wife, Lillian Manige, together with fellow Manchester United fans who contributed funds from their own pockets to purchase construction materials and pay the workers who made the project successful.
Mr. Tugumisirize Henry, commonly known as Henry Man Utd, who serves as the Vice Chairperson and Chief Mobilizer of the Rukungiri Manchester United Fans Association, confirmed that one of their members had earlier identified the needy man while passing through the area. Upon realizing his desperate living condition, the member shared the idea on their WhatsApp group, which was warmly welcomed by fellow fans.
Henry commended the charity work done by the dedicated Manchester United fans who contributed both small and large amounts of money to make the initiative possible. He said the funds were used to build a temporary house and buy clothes for the beneficiary. Henry also appealed to football lovers and emotional fans to go beyond cheering and supporting football teams by extending their passion to helping and uplifting the needy in society.
One of the residents, Mr. Barnabas Mubangizi, popularly known as Kitaranga, who acted as the project’s local coordinator, confirmed that the beneficiary, Friday, had been living alone in a severely worn-out house after the death of his parents.
He expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Rukungiri Manchester United fans for funding the construction of a new temporary house and donating clothes to the needy man. With deep gratitude, Barnabas prayed for God’s blessings and doubled profits upon every fan and well-wisher who contributed, regardless of the size of their support.
