Police in Kabale District are investigating the gruesome murder of a local mechanic, Rubanza Juma, a resident of Upper Bugongi Ward, Northern Division, Kabale Municipality, whose body was discovered early Thursday morning with deep cuts to the head.
According to police reports, the body was found in a eucalyptus plantation along the Rugarama–Pida route by a passerby at around 7:38 a.m., who immediately informed the deceased’s relatives. The deceased’s brother, Barugahale Salim, later reported the case to Kabale Police Station for further investigation.
A team of officers, including the District Police Commander (DPC) and the Canine Unit, rushed to the scene and secured it for examination. The sniffer dog led police to a nearby pork joint, where five suspects were arrested to assist in investigations.
During the arrest, police recovered a t-shirt with suspected bloodstains, a pair of shoes, and a sandal, which have been taken as exhibits.
Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, confirmed the incident and appealed to the public to share any information that could help identify and bring the culprits to justice.
Police say investigations are ongoing to establish the motive behind the killing.
