The Councilor for Western Division, Rukungiri Municipality, Behimbisa Topher Science, has urged head teachers of schools operating in the area to embrace reporting parents of regular latecomers and absentee students for management.

He made the appeal today, Friday 22nd August 2025, while addressing parents and learners of P.7 and P.6 at Ruruku Primary School in Western Division, sensitizing them on responsible education among parents and teachers and delivering his token of appreciation for the school’s stability.

Science advocated for the school’s unity with the founding churches and focus on the boy child, highlighting that emphasis on the girl child has empowered women to dominate men in public activities. He called on head teachers to embrace reporting parents of unserious learners practicing late coming and absenteeism for parental discipline.

The Chairperson School Management Committee, Charles Mugisha, assured parents of the revival and promising future of Ruruku Primary School after difficult times and advocated for gender education support, citing male neglect in accessing quality education that produces a successful generation.

The School Head Teacher, John Bosco Nuwagaba, highlighted the conducive learning environment and implored parents to unite with teachers in transforming standards at the school, which has been affected by late coming, absenteeism, and poor welfare of learners.

Teacher Patricia Amutuhaire challenged parents to adhere to parental care, refraining from abusing learners for demanding school requirements despite being disadvantaged, and advised them to avoid interfering with teachers’ roles.

A parent, Elias Mwesigye, tipped both teachers and parents to fight against bad habits of theft and jealousy among the learners, which affect performance through stealing scholastic materials and lowering morale.

Another parent, Florence Kyomuhangi, expressed trust in the school for its revival and advocated for mindset change among parents to support and rely on their school for the children’s education.
