Police at Rukungiri Central Police Station is holding one Baryebuza James 58 years, the headteacher of Karukaata Primary School, government-aided in Ihunga Parish, Nyarushanje Sub County, Rukungiri District on allegations of sexual abuse.
He is alleged to have defiled 03 female juveniles aged 15,14 and 12 years all pupils of Karukata Primary School.
It’s alleged that between August 2023 and March 2024, the suspect had unlawful carnal knowledge of victims aged 14 years and 15 years and also indecently assaulted the victim aged 12 years while at the school. The pupils opened up to the School Senior Woman who alerted the Inspector of Schools who reported at Rukungiri CPS.
Baryebuza James was arrested on Wednesday 27th March 2024 and detained at Rukungiri Central Police Station pending investigations.
He was arrested following the internal investigations done by the office of the Rukungiri District Education Office after receiving information from a concerned whistle-blower, inviting him to the office and attracting the Police.
Allegations complicate Baryebuza James to have been seducing his school girls into romance and sex in his office.
Other sources allege that he recently defiled a yet-to-be-identified girl from his school but matters were solved internally with his parents.
Rukungiri district police commander confirmed the arrest and revealed that police are on the ground to get more facts about this incident.
