Rukungiri Farmers’ SACCO, located in Rukungiri Municipality, on Tuesday 23rd December rewarded over 50 of its members under the Christmas bonanza for saving with their SACCO as a way of giving back to them.

The beneficiaries received various items including hens, rice, sugar, soap, among other gifts.

Speaking to the beneficiaries, Patience Atuhiire, the General Manager of Rukungiri Farmers’ SACCO, noted that the initiative started on 1st October 2025 with the aim of giving back to customers and giving members a chance to gain through saving, buying shares, and recruiting more members.

She urged the public to embrace a strong culture of saving and to buy more shares in cooperative societies in order to economically empower themselves and share in the success of their SACCO.

Deus Mugarura, who represented the Chairperson of Rukungiri Farmers’ SACCO, congratulated the winners and encouraged other members to increase their shares so that they too can benefit from the initiative in the future.

He noted that Rukungiri Farmers’ SACCO respects its customers and gives them first priority by ensuring their progress and working towards helping them develop through offering loans at low interest.

He called upon members to buy more shares so they can benefit from such initiatives.

He also explained that the Christmas rewards program is aimed at giving back to the community in appreciation of its continued support for the SACCO.

Some of the beneficiaries, including Annitah Owomugisha, a midwife, and Mutungi Abel, expressed gratitude to Rukungiri Farmers’ SACCO management for recognizing and rewarding its members.

They noted that the initiative will motivate more people to join the SACCO and invest in shares.

They also advised fellow beneficiaries not to sell the items they received, especially hens, but instead rear them for future economic gain.
