The Rukungiri District Senior Education Officer, Anxious Ganshanga, has called upon parents to use the holiday period to expose their children to career opportunities for inspiration and future planning.
He appealed on Wednesday, 4th December 2024, while presiding over the Top Class graduation ceremony at St. Luke Memorial Nursery and Primary School in Kishanda, Nyakinengo Parish, Nyakagyeme Sub County, Rukungiri District.
Ganshanga commended parents for their commitment to supporting education and encouraged them to help their children explore preferred career paths while providing the care necessary for their success.
Anthony Amperiize Rutarengizibwa, the Inspector of Schools overseeing Nyakagyeme Sub County, praised the high standards maintained by St. Luke Memorial Nursery and Primary School, which ranked third in the previous examinations in the sub-county. He urged parents to continue supporting the school to sustain its academic excellence.
Godson Mubangizi, the Chairperson LC3 of Nyakagyeme Sub County, expressed pride in the school’s achievements and competence within the region. He appealed to educational authorities to expedite the process of granting the school an examination center number to ensure stability and continued excellence.
Hellen Komugiaha Mukiza, the school director, lauded parents for their unwavering support. She expressed optimism about the school’s future stability and its vision of advancing students to secondary and tertiary education. However, she highlighted challenges such as poor roads, water shortages, and lack of electricity that hinder progress.
Martin Turyasingura Kabagambe, the Chairperson of the PTA, applauded the strong support from parents, noting that St. Luke Memorial is the only private school in the area. He expressed optimism about the school’s transformation, particularly with the addition of a boarding section.
Mackline Boonabaana, the headmistress, attributed the school’s success to dedicated teachers and the cooperation of parents. She pledged to maintain the school’s high academic standards, aiming for consistent first and second grades as the institution expands.
Eighteen pupils from the Top Class received promotion certificates to Primary One, all passing in first grade.
