Rukungiri District Local Government on Monday received a brand-new motorcycle from Centenary Bank Rukungiri Branch to support district operations, particularly the Commercial Office.
Speaking during the handover, the Centenary Bank Rukungiri Branch Manager, Brian Kasaija, said the donation is part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility aimed at giving back to the community and promoting local development. He commended Rukungiri District Local Government for its continued support and cooperation, noting that the commitment of the district leadership has greatly contributed to the bank’s growth and success.
Kasaija explained that the bank found it necessary to support the district with a Honda motorcycle to ease the implementation of government poverty eradication programmes. He noted that the motorcycle will facilitate the work of the Commercial Office in monitoring and supporting initiatives such as the Parish Development Model (PDM), Emyooga, UWEP, among others.
The Rukungiri Chief Administrative Officer, Fredrick Byekwaso, appreciated Centenary Bank for the timely donation, saying the motorcycle will significantly improve mobility, especially in the implementation of the Parish Development Model. He assured stakeholders that the motorcycle will be properly used and called upon the Commercial Office to work diligently to ensure the success of the government programmes.
Meanwhile, the Rukungiri District Chairperson, Geoffery Kyomukama, said the donation will greatly enhance the operations of the Commercial Office. He noted that this is not the first time Centenary Bank has supported the district, recalling that in 2025 the bank donated a desktop computer, which continues to support the work of the Commercial Office.
