Steven Nsubunga Bewayo, the Resident District Commissioner of Rukungiri, on Tuesday took the decision to cancel and postpone the site supervision and meeting for Nyakishenyi Seed Secondary School in Nyakishenyi Sub County, Rukungiri district.
This action was taken due to the failure of the contractor, Sagma Technical Services Limited, to adhere to agreed-upon guidelines.
The construction of Nyakishenyi Seed Secondary School was assigned to Sagma Technical Services Limited, and the district leaders accuse the contractor of not fulfilling resolutions agreed upon with the district committee before being awarded the contract.
Nsubunga highlighted that funds for roofing were provided to the contractor in June of this year, yet some buildings remain without roofs, leading to the cancellation of the meeting. The contractor was also instructed to supply protective gear for workers and site supervisors, level the compound, and plant trees, but these requirements have not been met.
The RDC directed the contractor to arrange another site meeting in the following week, ensuring the facilitation of attending authorities to address the issues that resulted in the initial cancellation before scheduling a new meeting.
Hajji Masokoyi Wasswa, the Chief Administrative Officer of Rukungiri district, cautioned the contractor against deviating from the contract guidelines. Wasswa emphasized that the district officials granted the contract and have the authority to terminate it if necessary, urging the contractor to adhere to the specified contractual terms.
