Team captains from different sub-counties and town councils in Rukungiri district on Wednesday received sports materials from the Ministry of Sports to boost sports in their communities.
The materials included both football and handballs.

Solomon Arinaitwe the Acting Rukungiri district sports officer said that the ministry gave out these balls to empower and help young talents at the community level.

Solomon added that sports in Rukungiri have been stalled by inadequate sports materials like balls, uniforms, and inefficient funds among other factors.

He appreciated the Ministry of Sports for remembering and supporting Rukungiri sports.
While addressing team captains who gathered at district headquarters, the Rukungiri district chairperson Mr. Geoffrey Kyomukama hailed the government of Uganda for its efforts in developing young talent.

Kyomukama said that sports are not only for fun and physical fitness but can as well be a source of income.
