The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) in Kisoro District, Hajji Badru Mayanja, has threatened to take punitive actions against the parish chiefs of Gisozi and Bubuye parishes if they fail to respond appropriately to his summons.

The parish chiefs in question are Sunday Steven of Bubuye parish and Habyarimana John of Gisozi parish.

CAO Hajji Badru Mayanja accuses these parish chiefs of neglecting their duties, resulting in the denial of certain services, including access to Parish Development Model funds for the residents.

While Karambi parish in Nyarubuye and Chahafi parish in Chahafi town council are also facing similar challenges, the CAO has been informed that the parish chiefs for these areas are currently unable to perform their duties due to illness.

In response to the situation, Mayanja announced that he has appointed individuals to assist in the parishes where the chiefs are unwell. The aim is to ensure that residents can still apply for the much-needed Parish Development Model funds.

The CAO also reassured the residents of Gisozi and Bubuye that they will eventually benefit from the PDM funds, once the issues are resolved.

During the weekend, the Kisoro district Resident District Commissioner, Hajji Shafiq Sekandi, criticized the parish chiefs for causing delays in accessing PDM funds, thereby frustrating the locals.
