Rukungiri district beekeepers have today received 14 bee suits, grooves, smokers, and an attorney honey warmer machine worth 11,698,000/= from the government to aid them in producing good quality, honey.
While handing over the equipment to the beekeepers at Rukungiri district headquarters, the district secretary for production Michael Byarugaba urged beekeepers to embrace beekeeping as a business and do it with passion in order to attract other people.
Martin Barigye, one of the beneficiaries, thanked the government for thinking about them and noted they will use the acquired equipment to produce good quality honey that will fetch them more money.
Lilian Kukunda, the Rukungiri district entomology officer implored beneficiaries to carefully look after the acquired equipment and to use in producing good quality, honey.
The beneficiary groups included Ryengerero beekeepers, Omukayaga beekeepers, Kazindiro beekeepers, Rukiiri beekeepers, Nyakashenyi Tweyongyere farmers group, and Rugando Kujonde beekeepers.
