The territorial police in Rukiga have detained a 33-year-old man, Aguma Arinaitwe, on allegations of criminal trespass at the home of Bruce Mucunguzi. Arinaitwe, a casual laborer at the residence of Drake Katabazi, hails from Bushenyi District.
It is reported that on the night of September 18, 2024, around 11:00 p.m., Arinaitwe, aware that Mucunguzi, a power saw operator, had left for work, went to visit his “lover,” Penina Katushabe, in her home. However, Penina had earlier advised him not to come as her husband had unexpectedly returned, but he missed her call.
Ignoring the warning, Arinaitwe entered the house and climbed into bed, believing Penina was alone. To his shock, it was Bruce, who upon hearing the intruder attempting to touch him, raised an alarm. A brief struggle ensued, after which Bruce managed to subdue Arinaitwe.
Neighbors, alerted by the commotion, rushed to the scene and called the police, who arrived in time to prevent the suspect from being lynched by an angry mob. Arinaitwe was arrested, and investigations are ongoing.
This information was provided by ASP Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson.
