Innocent Turyatemba, the uncle of the Rubanda District Woman MP, is currently under scrutiny for allegedly attacking a local comedian and maliciously damaging his music system.
Turyatemba, also known as Temba, reportedly assaulted Julius Twinomujuni Macanca, a comedian from Karengyeri Parish in Muko Sub County, during a public event in Nyamiyaga, Rubanda Town Council. Turyatemba is accused of confiscating Twinomujuni’s flash drive and intentionally damaging his music system, valued at 400,000 Shillings.
Twinomujuni claims that Turyatemba had previously threatened him, warning of physical harm and damage to his equipment if he continued to play the “Service Award” song in Rubanda Town Council. Turyatemba allegedly argued that the song negatively impacts Hon. Prossy Akampulira, a controversial commissioner of Parliament in the region.
At 45 years old and a father of five, Twinomujuni relies on his comedy career as his main source of income. He expressed concern about his ability to support his family now that his means of livelihood has been compromised.
Following the incident, Twinomujuni reported the matter to Rubanda Police Station, seeking compensation for the damaged equipment and assurances for his safety.
The case of malicious damage and theft is being investigated under file number 24/25/07/2024.
Rubanda Acting Resident District Commissioner Eric Ssewandigi directed our reporter to the District Police Commander, Abel Barugahare Kyooto, who confirmed the case and noted that the two parties have since reconciled.
