The Rubanda West Member of Parliament-elect, Hon. Bruce Baraba Kabaasa, has called on parents and guardians to prioritise education and skills development as the most reliable pathway to success, poverty reduction, and family prosperity.

Speaking to journalists shortly after his election to represent Rubanda West County in the 12th Parliament (2026–2031), Hon. Kabaasa said education remains the strongest equaliser in society, offering hope to children from all backgrounds, including those from poor and struggling families. He urged residents to invest in their children’s education and practical skills, noting that such investments open doors to productive networks, decent jobs, and sustainable incomes.

The MP-elect emphasized that through education and skilling, young people can uplift not only their own lives but also improve the living conditions of their families. He reassured parents that education does not discriminate between the rich and the poor, adding that it is the surest route for children to join productive and elite circles in society.

As the first school term of 2026 begins, Hon. Kabaasa encouraged children and youths—especially those who have recently completed secondary education—to continue upgrading their studies. He also appealed to young people to motivate their peers who may be losing faith in education to return to school or enroll in training institutions. He clarified that success in education is not limited to science subjects alone, but can also be achieved through other valuable disciplines and vocational skills.

Acknowledging the challenge of illiteracy in some parts of Rubanda District and the wider Kigezi sub-region, Hon. Kabaasa concluded by wishing learners a successful and victorious school term, urging the community to embrace education as a shared responsibility and a foundation for long-term development.
