Police in Rubanda are investigating circumstances under which two people were allegedly murdered.
The two are Orikiriza Mercy a two and half years old minor who was allegedly stabbed by Tayebwa Gerard for an unknown reason and later when the local residents learned of it, they hunted for him and lynched him to death.
It’s alleged that on Tuesday 5th September 2023 at around 01:00 pm at Mushebeya cell Omuruhinga ward Habuhutu town council Rubanda district, one Tusimireho, the mother of the girl went to the village meeting leaving her with the uncle one Tayebwa Gerald 22 years and Kyosabire Night.
Later, Kyosabire heard the baby crying inside the house, and on checking, the door was locked from inside.
Immediately Tayebwa Gerald opened the door and got out with a knife in the hand stained with blood.
She entered the house only to find the baby bleeding from a fresh eye injury wound.
She ran to the neighbors and informed them about what had happened who went and reported to Bufundi police post.
The injured baby was rushed to Kabale referral hospital where she was pronounced dead.
When the local residents heard of the death information, they mobilized, looked for Tayebwa, and lynched him to death.
The scene was visited, a postmortem done and Inquiries are still ongoing.
