The 6th Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese Rt Rev Onesimus Asiimwe has been enthroned as the 6th Bishop of North Kigezi diocese with a call on him to be a good shepherd who should not engage in Politics

The call was made by archbishop emeritus Luke Orombi who delivered the days sermon at a colorful consecration ceremony held at Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasaano, the diocesan headquarters

The consecration which was attended by thousands of people was preceded by the reading of the minutes of Bishop Asiimwes Election by the House of Bishops.

The citation of the minutes read in part that the house of Bishops had elected Rev Onesmus Asiimwe to be a chief shepherd of North Kigezi Diocese on 18th January 2023.

Flanked by his wife Mrs. Florence Asiimwe, children, and a host of other church leaders, Bishop Onesmus Asiimwe’s acceptance of responsibility with the words “I will do so, by the help of God” was met with loud chants and cheers from the faithful.

The enthronement has been officiated by the archbishop of the church of Uganda Dr. Stephen Samuel Kaziimba Mugaru.

Guests including Ministers, Members of Parliament, and Religious Leaders from different faith thronged Kinyasaano hill in Rukungiri municipality to witness what the majority have described as a historical event.

In his remarks, the caretaker of the diocese Rt. Rev Patrick Tugume congratulated the new bishop and promised to pray for him to do God’s ministry. He commended Christians for supporting the diocese for the period he has been taking care of it.

In his first message as newly enthroned bishop, Rt Rev Asiimwe promised to preach peace, unity, and development among others. He has promised to take care of the former North Kigezi Diocesan Bishop Mama Gladys and all her five children.

Bishop Onesimus asked the Government to upgrade Rugarama Health center IV a church-founded facility to a rural hospital so that Christians can get quality health services and pledged to revive the lost glory of the North Kigezi Diocese.

Archbishop Kazimba congratulated Bishop Onsemus for taking on this challenging assignment and asked him to seek God’s guidance if he is to be successful in God’s ministry.
