Police in Sheema District are investigating circumstances under which a businessman was lynched over livestock theft.
Yokoyada Michael 30 years, a businessman and a resident of Kabwohe town in the Sheema district was killed by a mob in Muzira central cell, Muzira parish, Kyangyenyi sub-county in Sheema District.
Macial Tumusiime the greater Bushenyi police spokesperson said the deceased stole the goat of one Cyrus from Kakindo town council Sheema district and Cyrus got him Slaughtering from in the bush.
He made an alarm and Mugisha John Bahati ran to his rescue but the deceased became violent and stabbed Mugisha John in the chest injuring him seriously.
He was rushed to Mbarara referral hospital for treatment while other people continued chasing the deceased up to Muzira where he was lynched to death by a mob.
Tumusiime said police from Sheema visited the scene and the body of the deceased was taken to Kabwohe health center IV pending postmortem.
