Rev. Obed Tumwebaze, the parish priest of Munyeganyegye Church of Uganda, Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry in North Kigezi Diocese, has urged married women to love, pray for, and support their husbands unconditionally. He emphasized that unwavering faith in God can bring peace and prosperity to families.
Rev. Tumwebaze made the remarks on Monday, November 25, 2024, during a Thanksgiving service organized by Obed Mwesigwa Mayanga, the Masya Parish Councilor and Speaker of Nyakagyeme Sub County. The event also included the blessing of Mayanga’s newly constructed home in Nyakahanga Cell, Masya Parish, Nyakagyeme Sub County, Rukungiri District.
In his sermon, Rev. Tumwebaze highlighted several challenges affecting marriages, including poverty, lack of proper housing, and alcoholism. He urged women to remain resilient and prayerful, trusting in God to transform their hardships into joy.
Francis Katabaguza, the head of laity at Masya Church of Uganda Parish, commended Mayanga for his faithfulness to the church and praised him for establishing permanent roots as a committed Christian.
Obed Mwesigwa Mayanga expressed that his thanksgiving was motivated by his gratitude to God for sparing his life during childbirth, calling him to leadership, granting him good health after a recent illness, blessing his family, and enabling him to build his home.
Mayanga also thanked Annah Nuwagaba Tumuramye, a parliamentary candidate for Rukungiri District, for settling his hospital bills at Nakasero Hospital, which amounted to over one million shillings. He acknowledged Dr. Grace for providing free medical care and Smart Robert Mugabe of Boona FM for mobilizing community support.
Namara Amutusimiire Mayanja, a teacher at Masya Primary School and Mayanga’s wife, expressed her gratitude to God for empowering their family to build a home and for answering her prayers.
A total of 660,000 shillings was raised during the event to support church services at Masya Church of Uganda.
