It was a day filled with joy at Yakobo Orikwera Buhandagazi Parish in Nyabitete Archdeaconry during the installation and thanksgiving ceremony of Reverend Syson Gumisiriza and Joan Gumisiriza as parish priests.
During his sharing, Ven. Enock Karamuzi, the Archdeacon of Nyabitete Archdeaconry, urged Rev. Syson to remain steadfast in his service, exercising patience and love towards believers. He encouraged him to preach the Gospel of truth and trust in God, who rewards those who diligently seek Him. He noted that people will have different intentions but advised him not to give up on the spirit of service.
Ven. Karamuzi also called upon believers to pray and work together with Rev. Syson to achieve better results, win souls for the Kingdom, and offer encouragement where needed. He urged Rev. Syson to always be a visionary leader.
Bishop’s Commissary Ven. Nathan Kirebete, in his speech, commended Rev. Syson for his hard work and his cooperation with Catholics, emphasizing that the ultimate goal is to win souls for God’s Kingdom.
He called upon leaders to remain strong in faith, carry out God’s work, and preach the Gospel truthfully. He also advised them to focus on the general good rather than personal interests.
Elder Emmanuel Turyamuhika Kikoni of North Kigezi Diocese thanked Rev. Syson for following in his father’s footsteps by fulfilling God’s requirements and uniting all religions without discrimination.
The Head of Laity, Benon Tugume of Yakobo Orikwera Buhandagazi C.O.U, expressed gratitude for Rev. Syson and Joan Gumisiriza, commending their dedication to the parish. He highlighted their achievements, including the construction of three classrooms for Buhandagazi Nursery and Primary School, daily prayers at the church, and fostering collaboration with other religious groups.
However, he pointed out some challenges, including the lack of transport for the Reverend and the absence of staff quarters for teachers at the school, though these are priorities in their development plans for the year.
In his speech, Rev. Syson Gumisiriza thanked the congregation for attending his installation and thanksgiving service. He called for continued teamwork to ensure the growth of God’s work and appreciated the church elders for their guidance and support.
He also expressed deep gratitude to the Christians of Yakobo Orikwera Buhandagazi Church of Uganda for their hard work, noting that every Sunday, they accomplish something meaningful. He further thanked them for taking care of him and his family.
