Rev. Fred Kweringa, the parish priest of Kyamurari Parish in Nyakagyeme Archdeaconry, North Kigezi Diocese, has called on Christians to support their church leaders, emphasizing that such cooperation is vital for the growth of churches and the nation.

He appealed to a thanksgiving service at Kyamurari Church of Uganda (C.O.U), following his confirmation into the priesthood at Emmanuel Cathedral Kinyasano in the North Kigezi Diocese. Rev. Kweringa was ordained a few years ago and has been officially confirmed as a priest.

Expressing gratitude, Rev. Kweringa thanked Rt. Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe, the Bishop of North Kigezi Diocese, for his guidance during their journey as ordinands. He also appreciated the Christians of Kyamurari C.O.U. for their unwavering support since his transfer to the parish, pledging to fulfill his responsibilities and ensure the continued development of the church under his leadership.

Benjamin Mishango, the head of laity at Kyamurari C.O.U., congratulated Rev. Kweringa on this significant milestone. He highlighted that the priest’s confirmation enables him to perform vital church sacraments such as holy matrimony and blessings. Mishango also acknowledged Bishop Onesimus Asiimwe for transferring Rev. Kweringa to their parish, crediting him for initiating developmental projects, including the growing of coffee as advised by the bishop.

These initiatives, Mishango noted, have greatly contributed to the church’s progress, achieved through the collective efforts of the parishioners and their new priest.
