A total of over 203 million and 10 bags of cement were today Saturday 5th August 2023 raised at a thanksgiving and Fundraising mass organized by Rev Father Dr. Julius Turyatoranwa, the Parish Priest Christ the King Parish Rukungiri towards constructing the priest’s house to mark his 25th Priesthood anniversary.

The thanksgiving and Fundraising mass held at Rukungiri Main Stadium was presided over by the Bishop of Kabale Diocese Rt Rev Callist Rubaramira who called on people to work hard towards fighting poverty that is rapidly increasing in the Kigezi region.

Callist noted that currently people’s income sources have been reduced and strained to the extent that some families cannot afford 2 meals a day which is dangerous to their lives.


The Security Minister Hon Maj General Jim Muhwezi Katugugu, the chief guest thanked Father Julius Turyatoranwa for choosing to construct the priest’s house which is a long-lasting development, and urged Christians to always support church activities.

The Minister for ICT and National Guidance Hon Dr Chris Baryomunsi commended the church for transforming the lives of Christians and supporting government programs that have fostered Development.

The Rukungiri Municipality Member of Parliament Hon Dr Elisa Rutahigwa valued the work done by the church and revealed that the government has secured 1.4 billion to rehabilitate Makobore High School as well as over 670 million to inaugurate a theatre at Rukungiri Health Center 4 Rwamahwa.

Rev Father Dr. Julius Turyatoranwa acknowledged Christians for cooperating with him and asked them to keep up the spirit.

Other dignitaries present were the State Minister for Finance, Planning and Economic Development Henry Musasizi, Kabale Municipality Member of Parliament Hon Nicholas Kamara, RDC Rukungiri Steven Nsubuga Bewayo, and 13 friends of Father Julius from America among others.
