The Uganda investments authority board chairperson Morrison Rwakakamba has challenged the Rukungiri Business community members to be fortified to utilize the yet-to-be-established industrial park in the Bwambara sub-county Rukungiri district.

He said this on Saturday while addressing Ugandans about the current state of investment in Uganda.

Morrison said that after the victory of NRM in 2021 the president of the Republic of Uganda made a directive for the establishment of an industrial park in each of the 25 zones in Uganda.

According to the directive, the land for the industrial parks was to be provided by the district, not in a wetland, minimum size of 500 acres, and the land not with any divergences.

Morrison, the Uganda investments board chairperson elucidated that they have so far confirmed 500 acres of land in the Madokolo district, 1600 acres in Yumbe, 500 in Nebbi, 500 in Dokolo, 500 in Lira,600 in Sorroti, 50 in Mbarara, 30 in Kabale, and 630 acres in Rukungiri.

He said that priority will be given to Rukungiri, Lira, Nebbi, and Kisoro which will be prepared by a company from London, and said he has already visited these places.

He revealed that in the yet-to-start Rukungiri industrial park, over 25,000 jobs are likely to be created, which will help reduce unemployment.

He says that for Rukungiri, the Uganda Investments Authority only needs a land title in the name of the Uganda investments authority to commence the process of registering investors, noting that a team from London has already visited Bwambara to see how to design a master plan of the park.

Rwakakamba added that the authority is soon visiting the Rukungiri business community to alert traders on how to use the industrial park to boost their income.
