Residents of Kafunjo Cell, Kanyinya Ward, in the Southern Division of Rukungiri District, have voiced concerns about consuming contaminated water. They report that the entire village relies on two open shallow wells, which become contaminated during both heavy rains and the dry season.

Bruce Kagali, a resident, mentioned that they have to travel long distances to access clean water from a spring at Marumba Trading Center.

Gideon Turyamubugana, the Division Councilor for Kanyinya Ward, confirmed that people are currently facing a water shortage due to the dry season and the limited number of water sources. He noted that many families cannot afford a connection to the National Water supply.

Denis Ngabirano, the Chairperson of LC3 Southern Division, acknowledged the lack of a water project provided by the Division. He attributed this to the absence of a strong water source in the area and advised affected residents to petition the Division.
