Residents of Buhunga Sub-county have been urged to separate money from the process of electing quality and capable leaders.

This call was made by Benon Mugisha, the LC3 Chairperson of Buhunga Sub-county, during an interview with our reporter.

Mugisha condemned the act of vote buying, stating that such behavior proves that a contestant is unlikely to serve the interests of the people once elected. He explained that such leaders focus on recovering the money they spent during the campaign instead of delivering services to the electorate.

He further stressed that this practice should end, especially in internal party elections, since members are from the same NRM family. Mugisha added that giving out money during elections does not contribute to the development of the party.

In addition, Benon Mugisha advised voters to avoid conflicts that can divide communities, noting that elections are temporary events but life continues afterward. He encouraged the public to vote peacefully for capable leaders of their choice without engaging in violence.

He also advised candidates to conduct their campaigns in a respectful and constructive manner, without resorting to character assassination or intimidation of opponents and their supporters.
