Residents of Kashanbya subcounty in Rukiga district are expressing their frustration over the deplorable state of the Kamukiza-Kabimbiri road. Speaking to Boona FM, locals highlighted the ongoing challenges posed by the road’s condition, stretching all the way up to Kitunga.
This isn’t a new issue; it’s become a recurring problem that significantly impacts business activities and puts a strain on school-going children.
Bodaboda operators, in particular, are feeling the pinch, having to resort to alternative routes due to the road’s poor condition. This not only disrupts their business but also increases the frequency of repairs needed for their motorbikes.
The community is urging immediate action from the authorities to address this issue and facilitate smoother movement. Lineoh Bandaganiire, the Chairperson LC3 of Kashanbya subcounty, acknowledges the challenges posed by the Kamukiza-Kabimbiri road and the Mukyago road, especially during the rainy season when navigation becomes even more difficult.
He explained that while some roads in the area have seen improvement, the allocated budget of 250 million UGX wasn’t sufficient to cover all necessary repairs. However, he assured residents that discussions have been held with top leaders, and plans are in place to address these remaining roads in the upcoming financial year.
In the meantime, Lineoh encourages residents to be patient and engage in community activities as they await the necessary road repairs.
