Police in Kisoro District have expressed worry about the situation where men over the age of 30 still rely on their parents for support.

During an interview with our reporter following a tragic event in Nyagisenyi village, Muganza parish, Chahi sub-county, Kisoro district, Community liaison officer, IP Arinaitwe Boaz of Kisoro police, highlighted this concern. In this incident, a 65-year-old man allegedly killed his 30-year-old son.

The suspect, identified as Ngaruye Benon Singirankabo, resides in Busamba village, Muganza parish, Chahi sub-county, Kisoro district. The victim, Nkurunziza Ronald, was his son.

According to reports, the deceased arrived home intoxicated at 3 am, creating a disturbance by banging on the doors and demanding food. Due to his history of violent behavior, the family hesitated to open the door. The deceased forcibly entered their bedroom, leading to a confrontation with his father.

The argument escalated, resulting in the father pushing his son out of the house, leading to a fatal fall from a cliff. The father’s discontent with adult men in their 30s depending on their parents was evident during the altercation.

Arinaitwe Boaz stressed the importance of parental responsibility in guiding their children and encouraged families to resolve conflicts internally to prevent frequent police involvement, which can strain family dynamics.
