Residents of Rukarango Parish in Kibatsi Subcounty, Ntungamo District, have expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of the Rwamabondo-Omukabare Road.

The road serves as a crucial link for large numbers of people traveling to marketplaces and other areas within Ntungamo District.

Innocent Bareebwoha, the Youth Leader of Kibatsi Subcounty, told our reporter that the road connecting Rwamabondo to Rukarango and Rutooma District has been severely damaged by heavy rains, leaving it riddled with potholes. This has made it difficult for residents to transport their goods to markets, prompting him to call on the government for urgent intervention.

Similarly, Yowaabu Kamwesigye Kagwisagye, the LC1 Chairperson of Rukarango 2 in Kibatsi Subcounty, confirmed the poor state of the road. He noted that while he has initiated community efforts to address the issue, these have been insufficient. He urged the local government to step in and ensure the road is properly repaired to ease transportation.

Nicholas Akoora, a resident of Rwamabondo Town Council, echoed these concerns. He emphasized the need for urgent intervention, warning that the road’s condition could endanger lives. He pointed out that many business people struggle to transport their goods, and access to healthcare services, especially for pregnant women, is becoming increasingly difficult.

In response, Samuel Mucunguzi, the LC5 Chairperson of Ntungamo District, acknowledged the issue and assured residents that plans are in place to repair the road. However, he noted that funding remains a challenge. He revealed that the matter has already been presented to the Ministry of Finance and assured residents that work will commence as soon as funds are secured.
