The Rubabo county legislator Hon. Naboth Namanya has asked the Ugandan government to reduce the number of its public servants, following the closure of world bank aid to Uganda.

While speaking to our reporter, Hon Naboth disclosed that there is a big number of government employees who don’t benefit this country, citing examples of Resident District Commissions and presidential advisors, who he accuses of being advised by the president instead of them advising him.

Using an analogy of killing a snake in a pot, Hon Naboth notes that there are hard times ahead, stressing that the World Bank was empowering the Ugandan budget by almost halfway, adding that, the government must reduce its employees or else they have to reduce their salaries.

The legislator affirmed that MPs don’t regret passing the Anti-Homosexuality Act for saving the norms and values of the nation, urging Ugandans to work hard to pass through the tough times ahead.

The World Bank announced on Tuesday last week, that it will halt new loans to Uganda over the country’s controversial anti-LGBTQ law.

In May, the World Bank Group had also warned that the law was not consistent with the lender’s values and that it was “highly concerned” about its adoption.
