A disagreement between Kafunjo parish chief John Tuyambe and Kafunjo Parish Development Model (PDM) Savings and Credit Cooperative Limited leaders in Kashambya sub-county, Rukiga district is suffocating the beneficiaries from getting cash.

The concern was raised on Sunday during a thanksgiving towards uplifting Bucundura Hiika in Kitanga parish, Kabale diocese.

The facelift that includes the completion of a clergy house, church, and compound beautification is in preparation to elevate the Hiika to the level of a parish after authorization from Calist Rubaramira, Kabale diocese Bishop. The parish is set to be curved out of Kitanga and Nyakishenyi parishes.

As Rukiga County Member of Parliament, Hon. Ndyomugyenyi Bish who was the chief guest started sensitizing Christians to get involved in the PDM project, locals interjected with concerns about how the project is yet to be implemented on the ground.

Led by Richard Banyenzaki, the SACCO Chairman, locals argued that 80 million shillings is stuck on the account due to a feud between leaders and Tuyambe.   They accused Tuyambe of forcing them to add members of his choice after allegedly bribing him with 20,000 shillings.

Ndyomugenyi angrily tasked Gastone Muhereza, district councilor representing Kasyambya sub-county, and Robert Mbabazi Kakwerere to explain why the program is failing in the area as they keep a deaf ear yet they are leaders on the ground.   Ndyomugenyi ordered them to follow up on the matter to make sure that it is resolved as soon as possible.

Kakwerere says that his office was not aware of the feud.  Kakwerere promised to follow up on the matter so that it is settled.

Efforts to get a comment from Tuyambe were futile as he could not pick up our reporter’s phone calls.

A total of 24.48 million shillings was collected in both cash and pledges towards uplifting the Hiika.

Ndyomugenyi contributed cash worth 5.2 million shillings.
