RDC Mbarara, Turyabagyenyi Emmanuel Kateera, has issued a warning to those who benefited from the Presidential Initiative on Wealth and Job Creation (Emyooga) funds but failed to repay them.

He stated that defaulters will be arrested and charged with sabotage of a government program, obtaining money by false pretenses, and embezzlement, based on documented evidence.

DISO David Kamanda expressed disappointment with political leaders for not attending the consultative meeting, citing a lack of seriousness and commitment. Kamanda explained that the meeting served as a final warning, indicating that the period of diplomacy has ended and enforcement actions will follow for the culprits.

He emphasized that the Emyooga Saccos are designed for members and the public to save and borrow at affordable interest rates, urging members to maintain quality record-keeping for sustainability and growth.

The district commercial technical team, led by District Commercial Officer Bwisho Adams, provided training to the Emyooga Saccos on ensuring transparency and accountability in their operations.
