Authorities in Kabale District have launched the construction of the 5-kilometer Rwene-Kabahesi-Nyakyonga road in Buhara Sub County, valued at 600 million shillings. This project, funded by the Ministry of Works and Transport, is a result of successful lobbying by Kabale District Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Catheline Atwakiire Ndamira and Ndorwa East Legislator Hon. Wilfred Niwagaba.
Kabale District Engineer Januario Bagamuhunda announced that Springer Engineering Limited will carry out the construction, which is expected to be completed within six months. The project scope includes site preparation, setting out and clearing, earthworks, drainage works, and graveling.
At the launch event, Kabale Deputy Resident District Commissioner Bakak Ronald cautioned contractors against substandard work and urged local leaders in Buhara Sub County to closely monitor the project and report any deviations from the agreed specifications. Bakak also warned residents not to obstruct the project, emphasizing that there would be no compensation for those affected by the construction.
Representing Kabale District Woman MP Catheline Atwakiire Ndamira, her Political Assistant Alex Akampulira addressed the gathering at Rwene Catholic Church Centre grounds. He encouraged residents to use the new road to boost their household incomes by improving market access for their produce and called for cooperation between the locals and the engineering team to ensure smooth progress without disruptions.
