RDC Mbarara, Turyabagyenyi Emmanuel Kateera, has issued a stern warning to leaders overseeing the Emyooga Saccos under the Presidential Initiative on Wealth and Job Creation.

He cautioned that those found to have misused or failed to repay loans could face police arrest. Kateera highlighted concerns that certain board members of Emyooga Saccos had allegedly obtained significant loans without proper approval from loan committees and subsequently failed to repay them through the designated Emyooga Sacco accounts.

This warning comes in response to reports from Kashari South Restaurant Emyooga Sacco, where the chairperson, along with the secretary, purportedly spent over 50 million shillings without proper accountability.

Preliminary investigations suggest that while members were making loan repayments, the funds were allegedly diverted for personal gain instead of being properly accounted for. As a result, the chairperson of Kashari South Restaurant Emyooga Sacco in Mbarara South constituency has been arrested and handed over to Bwizibwera police station for further investigation and legal proceedings.

Efforts to apprehend others involved are ongoing. Kateera emphasized the importance for individuals who received funds from the Emyooga program to ensure they repay any outstanding loans or face consequences.
