As the National Resistance Movement (NRM) campaigns officially kick off tomorrow, 4th July 2025, the Rukungiri Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Steven Nsubuga Bewayo, has called on all aspiring candidates and their agents to conduct peaceful and lawful campaigns.

While addressing candidates at a meeting held today in the Rukungiri District Council Hall, Nsubuga emphasized the importance of adhering to campaign guidelines to ensure smooth and peaceful primaries.

Nsubuga further warned against acts of voter intimidation and vandalism, particularly the growing practice of tearing opponents’ posters. He said such actions are illegal and those found culpable will be prosecuted.
He also urged voters to participate in the process wisely, reminding them that elections will pass, but community life must continue in harmony.

Meanwhile, the Rukungiri District NRM Registrar, Mugarura Kizza Jackson, urged candidates to strictly observe the issued campaign guidelines to avoid penalties and unnecessary conflict.

Mugarura also stressed the need for discipline and mutual respect among all contenders, saying that the NRM primaries must reflect the values of the party and the rule of law.
