President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has praised the NRM Nyekundiire groups for their unity, strength, patriotism, and contribution to national development. The President made these remarks during his visit to Kanungu District, where he officially launched all Nyekundiire groups in the district.

As part of his support, the President donated UGX 500 million to the groups and provided a hatchery and a brooder to enhance poultry farming. These contributions are aimed at bolstering economic productivity and improving livelihoods within the community.

During his visit, President Museveni also met a farmer in Nyamirama and personally gave him UGX 10 million to strengthen his Parish Development Model (PDM) projects. He emphasized that PDM funds should strictly be used to boost productive economic activities rather than for social needs. However, he assured residents that the government is considering introducing separate funds in the future to address social welfare concerns such as debt repayment, school fees, and food security.

Local leaders in Kanungu, including Minister for ICT and National Guidance Dr. Chris Baryomunsi, Nyekundiire Chairman Donati Kananura, and LC5 Chairperson Sam Kajojo, expressed their gratitude to the President for his generous support. They also took the opportunity to urge him to address outstanding development challenges in the district.

President Museveni reiterated his commitment to strengthening the Parish Development Model, promising to eliminate obstacles hindering its effectiveness. He urged PDM beneficiaries to invest the funds in income-generating activities to ensure sustainable economic empowerment.

One of the beneficiaries, Ayesigwa Kenneth from Nyamirama Town Council, was recognized for his prudent use of PDM funds. In recognition of his efforts, the President rewarded him with an additional UGX 10 million to expand his farming projects.
