The North Kigezi diocesan bishop Rt Rev. Onesimus Asiimwe has rallied Christians to pray for the country, especially during this time when corruption has become a vice affecting the development of the country.
He said this on Sunday while addressing Christians in a confirmation service of 100 Christians at St John’s Marashaniro church of Uganda parish in Nyakisoroza archdeaconry North Kigezi Diocese.
Bishop Asiimwe said that Uganda is being irked by corruption, a challenge that he said is hampering development and crippling service delivery.
He also urged Christians to pray against tribalism in the country which he said may make tomorrow’s Uganda more difficult than today, following the message of the NUP leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentam in Luwero who said that there is high rate of tribalism and nepotism in Uganda.
He challenged confirmands to defend their belief and to support church programs constructions as well as mobilizing non-believers to go to the church.
Rev. Godfrey Byaruhanga the Marashaniro church of Uganda parish priest hailed the North Kigezi diocesan bishop for having a vision of enhancing academic standards in the diocese, thereby imploring Christians to join him in the mission.
He said as authorities at Marashaniro Parish, they are ready to implement his poverty eradication advice of coffee planting, especially in this rainy season.
