Police in Buhweju District are holding one of their own on charges of attempted murder for shooting and injuring three civilians.
Macial Tumusiime the greater Bushenyi police spokesperson identified the suspect as No. 30204 CPL Mutabaruki Crescent, 54, A police Officer attached to Kiisa Police Post as OC Post and a resident of Katefunza ‘B’ Village, Kabegaramire Parish, Nyakishana sub-county in Buhweju District
According to Tumusiime, the incident happened on 01/04/2023 at around 1:00 Pm when the suspect was involved in a scuffle with three local residents and ended up shooting at them.
Tumusiime further identified the three victims as Pauson Mucunguzi 24 , Olivias Kebirungi 20 , Edson Nuwagaba 22 all residents of Katefunza ‘B’ Village, Kabegaramire Parish, Nyakishana sub-county in Buhweju District.
Mucunguzi’s hand was shattered by the bullet, Olivias Kebirungi was injured on the thigh, and Edson Nuwagaba was shot in the arm.
Tumusiime says preliminary investigations reveal that the victims were injured by gunshots and were rushed to Ishaka Adventist Hospital for medical treatment.
