On the 20th of March, 2024, at approximately 5:00 AM, police in Mbarara City received information from the Chairman LC1 of Lubiri Cell, Nyamityobora ward, regarding suspected motorcycle thieves residing in a gated premises owned by a Congolese refugee named Runezerewa Ntwari.

Upon receiving the report, the police promptly responded to the scene. A thorough search was conducted in the rented room of Twakiire Ivan, who is currently evading arrest. During the search, law enforcement recovered five red Bajaj Boxer motorcycles with registration numbers UEX 948U, UEZ 259Y, UES 834V, UDS 667A, and UFS 625S, along with five registration number plates (UDQ 462R, UFT 481L, UFX 960F, UGA 561F, UEW 208C), and various motorcycle spare parts. All recovered items were documented and are now securely held at CPS Mbarara.

The landlord, Mr. Runezerwa Ntwari, was apprehended to aid in the ongoing investigations, while efforts are underway to track down Twakiire Ivan and his accomplices.

During the operation, police were compelled to discharge bullets and tear gas to disperse an enraged crowd of boda boda riders who attempted to attack individuals within the premises.

Investigations into this incident are currently ongoing.
