Police in Kabale District have launched an investigation into the suspected murder of a Rwandan national whose body was discovered in a sorghum plantation in Buhoro village, Rwene Parish, Buhara Sub County.

According to Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate, the deceased, identified only as Biryabarema based on a Rwandan national identification card found on him, was found dead under unclear circumstances on Tuesday, May 28, 2025, at approximately 1:10 PM.

The discovery was made by a resident, Naturinda Joan, who had gone to inspect her plantation when she stumbled upon the lifeless body. She immediately alerted neighbors and was advised to report the matter to authorities. The case was subsequently reported to Rwene Police Post and later escalated to Kabale Central Police Station.

A team of investigators from Kabale CPS responded to the scene, where they conducted a thorough examination and documented the area. Statements were recorded from local leaders and community members to aid ongoing inquiries.

The body of the deceased was transported to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

ASP Maate confirmed that investigations are active and urged anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist police efforts.
