The police in Rubanda are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of a 23-year-old individual named Hope Tumuramye, who was a member of the Batwa tribe and a resident of Rwamahano village in Ikamiro parish, Muko sub-county, Rubanda district.
The incident occurred on the 2nd of October 2023, at approximately 05:00 PM when Hope’s lifeless body was discovered in a trench located at Nfansha trading center.
It is reported that on the 1st of October 2023, around 02:00 PM, the deceased had left her home to purchase food in Nfansha trading center, accompanied by friends named Kahara, Gloria, and others. However, she did not return home, causing her family to become concerned.
The following day, on the 2nd of October 2023, at around 05:00 PM, the family received a call from the area chairperson, Habuhinga village, identified as Silevesti Ngurusi, reporting the discovery of an unidentified body dumped near Nfansha trading center, close to Nfansha river.
The mother went to the scene and identified the body as that of her daughter, Hope Tumuramye.
Upon examination by the police, the body was found in a trench near Nfansha river at Nfansha trading center, and it displayed multiple deep cuts on the head and neck.
The deceased’s body was transported to Muko Health Center Three for a postmortem examination.
The police are urging anyone with information that may lead to the identification and apprehension of the individuals responsible for this heinous crime to come forward and cooperate with the authorities.
The investigation into this case is currently underway, and further details will be provided as the inquiry progresses.
