Police in Nyarushanje subcounty, Rukungiri district are currently probing the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of a 13-year-old boy who was discovered hanging in a coffee plantation.
The deceased, identified as Ivan, aged 13, was the son of Godfrey Nyesiiga, a resident of Kabumba Cell in Nyabushenyi Parish, Nyarushanje sub-county, Rukungiri district. He was found hanging in a neighboring coffee plantation.
In an interview with Boona FM, the owner of the coffee plantation, Mr. Ambrose Tumukunde, revealed that Ivan had been repeatedly caught engaging in acts of theft, stealing various items within the community. Despite being reprimanded by residents on multiple occasions, Ivan’s behavior persisted.
It’s believed that Ivan’s troubled behavior might have been influenced by family issues, leading him to resort to theft and other misconduct.
Ambrose further mentioned that the authorities from Nyarushanje police station were promptly notified, and the deceased’s body was subsequently handed over to his family for burial arrangements. The investigation into the cause of his death remains ongoing.
