Police in Mitooma District are investigating a serious accident that occurred along the Mitooma-Ishaka road on the evening of November 4, 2024.

According to police reports, the incident happened at approximately 7:30 p.m. in front of Mitooma Central Police Station. The accident involved a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UFA987L, ridden by Edward Tukajunwa, 54, a resident of Katunga Village in Bushenyi District’s Kakanju Sub-County.

Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson, identified the victim as Umaru Ainemugisha, a 20-year-old student in Senior Five at Ruhinda Senior Secondary School. Tumusiime explained that Tukajunwa was riding from Mitooma town toward Ishaka when he struck Ainemugisha, who was crossing from a side road to join the main road. The impact left Ainemugisha with serious injuries, including the loss of two upper teeth.

The victim was rushed to Dr. Ben’s Clinic for immediate medical treatment. Tumusiime attributed the accident to careless riding, noting that the motorcycle was being ridden at high speed and without proper lighting.

Police investigations into the accident are ongoing.
