Police in Mitooma District have started investigations into the murder of a 20-year-old man who was strangled to death, and his motorcycle was stolen.
The incident occurred at an unknown time but was discovered on January 16, 2025, at 6:00 AM at Buharambo Primary School in Buharambo Village, Buharambo Parish, Kabira Sub-County, Mitooma District.
Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Hannington Ainebyoona, a boda boda rider and resident of Karangara Village, Nyabubare Parish, Kabira Sub-County, Mitooma District.
It is alleged that on January 15, 2025, at around 7:30 PM, the deceased purchased beef and went to visit his new girlfriend at Kabira Trading Center, accompanied by his friend, Gumanaitwe Davis.
After spending some time there, the deceased escorted Gumanaitwe back to the boda boda stage and then returned alone to his girlfriend’s home.
However, on January 16, 2025, Mugisha Jafari reported to Kabira Police Station that Ainebyoona had been murdered, and his motorcycle, a red Bajaj Boxer with registration number UGH 192K, had been stolen by unknown individuals.
Signs of strangulation were observed on the body, as his jeans were tied around his neck. The body was taken to Mitooma Health Center IV mortuary for a postmortem examination, and inquiries into the matter are ongoing.
