Police in Bushenyi District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a 30-year-old man who was struck by a speeding vehicle in a hit-and-run incident.
The accident occurred on October 25, 2024, at 7:30 a.m. in Butaare Trading Center along the Ishaka-Kasese road. Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson, confirmed the accident involved an unidentified motor vehicle and a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registration number UFY 487MB.
The deceased has been identified as Brian Atusasibwe, 30, a resident of Ryakatakanya Cell, Kyamuhunga Ward, Kyamuhunga Sub-County in Bushenyi District. It is reported that the unknown vehicle was coming from Kasese and attempted to turn onto Karinju Road after passing Butare Police Post when it collided with the motorcycle.
Tumusiime stated that the deceased was transported to Comboni Hospital for a postmortem, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
