The chairperson of Boona Bagaigahare South Western Region, Madam Peace Rugambwa, has urged leaders in Rukungiri District to avoid selfishness and work collaboratively to eliminate the barriers that have kept people in poverty.
This urgent appeal follows several complaints from community members and leaders regarding delays in providing promised items to Boona Bagaigahare members.
Fortunately, part of the promised supplies, including 200 mattresses, blankets, and bed sheets, were delivered today, October 26, 2024, at the Boona Bagaigahare office premises, ready to be distributed to beneficiaries.
Madam Peace stated that the items could have been delivered much earlier, but misunderstandings among leaders in Rukungiri caused the delay. She assured that some items are now available, with more on the way, including coffee seedlings, pigs, and hens.
She announced that on October 29, 2024, all sub-county leaders of Boona Bagaigahare will meet in Rukungiri to discuss the distribution of these items to beneficiaries.
A total of 4,500 mattresses, blankets, and bed sheets have already been purchased, designated for elderly women, along with other promised items for members.
Madam Peace called on all leaders at every level in Rukungiri District, especially the RDC and General Jim Muhwezi Katugugu, to cooperate with her as they serve the community with the goal of eradicating poverty.
Mumpe Collins Kifene, the general secretary of Boona Bagaigahare South Western Region, who received the items, expressed his happiness and urged all members to be patient as they await notification of the distribution date.
He mentioned that part of the items is already stored at the office premises in Rukungiri, with more still to arrive for distribution.
He encouraged the community to be ready, as they will be called upon at any time to collect their items.
