Police in Buhweju District are investigating the circumstances surrounding the apparent suicide of a 50-year-old individual.
The incident took place in Kiisa village, Kabegaramire Parish, Nyakishana sub-county, Buhweju District.
Marcial Tumusiime, the spokesperson for Greater Bushenyi Police, confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Deziderio Mugyenzi, a resident of the aforementioned address.
Reportedly, on the 12th of April, 2024, around 6:00 PM, the deceased left home to purchase maize flour from Omukarere trading center to prepare porridge, leaving his wife, Amumpire Allen, waiting.
However, he did not return, and the following morning, his wife contacted her father-in-law, Kafureka Nyansio, to inform him of the situation.
Upon confirmation, they proceeded towards Omukarere trading center, but shortly after leaving their home, they discovered the body hanging from an avocado tree by a nylon rope.
Nicholas Turyasingura, aged 35 and the chairman of Lc one, reported the case to the police, noting that the commotion raised by family members alerted the residents.
