Police in Rubirizi District are searching for unknown assailants involved in a case of aggravated robbery.
The incident occurred on January 12, 2025, at 2:00 AM in Kasungu Cell, Kasarara Ward, Rubirizi Town Council, Rubirizi District.
Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident and identified the victim as Bernard Ndagano, 45, a resident of the aforementioned area.
According to a report filed by Arnold Mugisha, 20, the victim’s ordeal came to light when his aunt, Mirania Nshekanabo, informed him that Ndagano had sought her help after being attacked by unknown thugs who had severely injured him.
The victim recounted that the attack happened near the Rugazi Hospital mortuary when he noticed two unknown men following him. The men reportedly chased after him, and one grabbed him, demanding money. When he tried to flee, he was struck with a large stick, causing him to fall. The attackers stole the only 2,000 shillings he had and inflicted cuts on his neck, left arm, and left leg.
Ndagano was rushed to Rugazi Health Centre IV by his aunt, but his condition worsened, leading to his referral to Kampala International Teaching Hospital for further treatment.
Police investigations are ongoing.
