The territorial police in Rukungiri are searching for suspects in connection with the murder of 45-year-old Emmanuel Saturday, a resident of Matebe Cell, Kyamakanda Ward, Buyanja Town Council, Rukungiri District. The incident occurred on March 10, 2025, at around 5:00 AM in Omuyanja Cell, Kyamakanda Parish, Buyanja Sub-County.
The suspects have been identified as: Ayebare, an adult male, son of Gorrette; Posiano, an adult male, son of Byaruhanga; and Gloria, an adult female. All three are residents of the same area.
The police received a report from Jerome Katabazi, the chairman of Omuyanja Cell, about the discovery of a body at Biguri Trading Centre. The deceased, Emmanuel Saturday, was an employee of Baryamujura Thomas and was found with visible injuries and bruises.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing Ayebare, Posiano, and Gorrette assaulting the victim using sticks and bricks. Some witnesses also overheard the suspects discussing plans to flee before the police arrived. However, the motive for the murder remains unknown.
Upon notification, the police opened a case at Buyanja Police Station, visited and documented the crime scene, and transported the body to Rwakabengo Health Centre III for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
The suspects are currently on the run, and efforts to apprehend them are ongoing.
