Police in Sheema District have launched a manhunt for unknown assailants linked to a brutal murder and aggravated robbery that occurred on the night of March 17, 2025, in Rushoroza Cell, Nyanga Ward, Kabwohe Division, Sheema Municipality.
According to Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson, the deceased has been identified as Anitah Nsimenta, 25, a businesswoman and resident of the area.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Nsimenta’s husband, Cenan Atwiine, who operates a business in Nyihanga Town, Rwampara District, grew suspicious after failing to reach his wife by phone. When calls went unanswered and the phone was later switched off, he decided to travel to her residence.
Upon arrival, he discovered that her mattress and bag were missing, prompting him to report the matter to the police. While he was at the station, neighbors found Nsimenta’s body lying in the corridor near the bathroom and informed the landlady.
Authorities suspect that the crime may have been orchestrated by a boda boda rider identified as Jonathan, whom local residents believe fled with an undisclosed amount of money, a mattress, a suitcase, and other household items.
Tumusiime stated that Nsimenta’s body was found with a sisal rope around her neck, blood oozing from her nose and mouth, and visible injuries on her face. The remains were taken to Kabwohe Health Center IV for a postmortem as investigations continue.
Police are urging anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to come forward.
