Police in Rubirizi District are searching for unknown assailants who murdered a 20-year-old man for reasons yet to be established.
The incident occurred on March 6, 2025, at an unspecified time in Nyandongo II Village, Nyandongo Parish, Katanda Sub-county, Rubirizi District.
Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Moses Mucunguzi, a resident of Nyandongo Village, Katanda Parish, Katanda Sub-county, Rubirizi District.
It is alleged that the deceased left home to buy a padlock for his door at Nyandongo Trading Center but never returned. His body was later found lying in a pool of blood in the middle of the road, with his neck severely cut.
Matitazari Banturaki, a 62-year-old peasant and resident of Nyandongo Village, stated that the deceased was known for stealing people’s property, which had earned him many enemies.
He added that the body was discovered lying on its back, fully clothed with sandals on, and the neck almost completely severed.
Tumusiime said the body was taken to Rugazi Health Centre IV for a postmortem examination.
